On February 4, students of Kyiv Mohyla Academy had the opportunity to increase their media literacy at an open lecture by Ukrainian journalist and publicist Vitaliy Portnikov.
Lectures under the "Fourth Power Project: Impact, Challenges, Responsibility" have already taken place in Kharkiv, Odessa, Ostroh, Dnipro and Vinnitsa. The final lecture of the project was held in the media center of the Mohyla School of Journalism. In total, about 80 future journalists, students from other faculties and teachers gathered to listen to Vitaliy Portnikov. It was also possible to ask the lecturer questions.
The main purpose of the lecture is to improve the quality, objectivity, non-involvement of media content and, as a consequence, to increase the level of critical thinking and objectivity of Ukrainians' information and events.
On the basis of the lecture, a TV version will be produced, which will be shown on the air of the project partner of the project - TV channel Espreso.
The event was organized by the NGO "All-Ukrainian Forum for Democracy", with the support of the US Embassy in Ukraine Media Development Fund. Organizational partner - Mohyla School of Journalism. The event's media partner is the Espreso channel.
