A personal exhibition of works of art by one of the most famous Ukrainian contemporary authors, Ivan Marchuk, was opened in the capital’s TsUM (Kyiv, Khreshchatyk Street 38, 7th floor). Most of the works will be seen by the viewers for the first time.

The project, entitled The Roots, combines close to forty paintings of five (out of 12) author cycles of a wide artistic range – from the philosophically insightful “Voice of My Soul” and hyper-realistic landscapes to the sophisticated paintings of the series ”Tired Tune“ (a series of paintings was created in the 70’s and will be exhibited for the first time) and surrealistic cosmic ”A Look at Infinity”. Also, the artist offers the viewer a new monumental cycle of his works “Colored Preludes” (10 paintings), which will be exhibited for the first time.

Much of the exhibited collection is the work that has traveled around the world for the past few years – they have been featured in the leading museums and galleries of Lithuania, Germany, Poland, Belgium, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Hungary, Thailand, Tunisia, Jordan, Turkey.

“I enjoy improvisation, but I finish the painting to the micron. As a musician: he wrote a melody, and later it should be arranged, polished. And finally, everyone comes and exclaim: Oh, what picture is already ready. No, I say, here you need to draw more than two thousand pieces. Man does not see this. But I see why. I am looking for perfection, and if I can not achieve it, I am discomforted. This is a hellish job. I write at an enormous speed: dozens of smears per second. I work in extraordinary ecstasy. Only in such a state, I manage to bring the work to the fact that it was my brand name, if not without a signature: it is a picture of Marchuk, and more draw,“

- tells about his work Ivan Marchuk.

“For the Sky Art Foundation, it is a great honor to work with the author of such a level as Ivan Marchuk. The project “Roots” is a quintessence of the artist’s creativity, which will not only enable the viewer to get acquainted with the author’s various work but also explain the deep essence and importance of the existence of the creativity of such artists within the framework of world artistic and philosophical development,“

- said Julia Ostrovskaya, director of Sky Art Foundation.

The opening of the exhibition took place on May 29 at 7.00. The exhibition will last until June 27, the entrance for everyone is free. Event organizer – Sky Art Foundation. MediaLocker Media Partner.
