Ukrainian Cinema Days in Verkhovyna

This was stated by the Chairman of the Committee on Culture and Spirituality, People's Deputy of Ukraine, Mykola Knyazhitsky, on Sunday, December 23, during the opening of the "Days of Ukrainian Cinema" in Verkhovyna. The film festival takes place in Hutsul region for the third time and will last from December 23 till December 25.

"Why did we decide to bring contemporary Ukrainian cinema here a year ago? Because it is obvious that these places, where beautiful people live, at all times fell in love with representatives of the Ukrainian and European elites. The intellectuals always came here to admire the Carpathian landscapes and get acquainted with the unique Hutsul culture. It was here that Ukrainian cinema was born",

- said Mykola Knyazhitsky.

He also emphasized that many ethnic groups of Ukrainians were destroyed, but the Hutsuls have experienced difficult times, but have preserved their culture and traditions.

"I always had the desire to bring here many famous people and make this place a cultural capital not only of Ukraine, but also of Eastern and Central Europe. And we have already begun to do this, although this is not easy, because here there is not that there is no cinema - there is no cultural home. We hold a film festival in a regular school. However, you do not have to wait until someone builds something. We need to develop this land. And today we are holding the "Days of Ukrainian Cinema" here for the third time. Also held a scientific conference and a music festival",

- also said the deputy of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Residents of the Upper Carpathian towns, Verkhovyna, Kosovo and Snyatin, where there are no cinemas, will have the opportunity to view the latest Ukrainian premieres free of charge and to talk with the actors performing the main roles in these films.
